Habitat Wines will donate $1.00 US dollar for each screw cap from
a bottle of Habitat wine returned to Habitat Wines, subject to the
rules below. Consumers can choose one of five charities chosen by
Habitat Wines.
ACTION: Collect 12 or more screw caps, then download, print and
complete the donation form. (Click
here to download donation form.) Just follow the simple instructions,
choose your charity, or charities, and mail the caps into Habitat
Wines, Post Office Box 434, Oakville, California, 94562.
Each of the charities approved by Habitat Wines for this program
is a 501c(3) and has an outstanding record of contributing between
85% and 100% of donations to their cause. This figure is important
because it shows that the charities contribute a significant percentage
of their income directly to the causes they support, rather than
paying for excessive salaries or administrative costs. Donations
go to the right place, the cause. (You can find out more about charities
at www.charitynavigator.org
)
Each month, Habitat Wines will write a check to each charity in
an amount equal to $1 US for each Habitat Wines screw cap returned
to Habitat Wines. There is a twelve-cap minimum to be returned by
the consumer to Habitat Wines.
If a consumer sends in less than twelve caps, the caps will be collected,
totaled, and the dollar equivalent will be sent to the charity of
choice by Habitat Wines. So the value of the cap, $1 per cap, will
still be allocated to a charity but it just will go to one of the
six chosen by Habitat wines rather than chosen by the consumer as
a cumulative total.
The contribution value of the screw caps will be honored for up
to one year from the date printed on the cap. The values will not
be honored for caps returned after that deadline, or if the Habitat
Wines program ceases operation.
